Top Secret University Tip #1

In my last four years at Brescia, I have discovered lots about myself and the world. I’ve learned about philosophy, politics, religion, science, human behaviour. I gained academic knowledge and lifeskills. Blah blah blah.

However, much more important than all this worldly knowledge are the top secret tricks I have picked up that have made my university life much, much easier. Now that I’m about to graduate, it seems silly to let all of this accumulated wisdom to go to waste. And so, if you happen to be just starting at Brescia (or maybe even if you’re in one of your upper years), I am going to share with you my most sacred knowledge of the secrets of Brescia and UWO, in the form of “Kate’s Top Secret University Tips!” (TSUT’s).

Here is my first one. There will be more to come- you can check out the whole list here!

TSUT # 1:

Work the library. I recommend that you make VERY friendly with the library staff and figure out all the really nifty services that the Beryl Ivey Library has to offer. The library staff are amazing, and getting to know them makes your life so much easier, because they are so willing to help (for example, I’ve had them extend my loans for an extra long time when I was working on an important course project).

Also, did you know that you can:

  • Have books from all across campus shipped up to Brescia for you to pick up?
  • Use a great journal article that you find online to help link you to TONS of other articles that would be relevant?
  • Book private study rooms with ALL the AV equipment you need to practice Power Point presentations?
  • Sign out all your books at once (and by yourself) by scanning your card and placing the whole stack on the “magic pad”?

This is just the beginning of the secret awesomeness that is available in the library to make your life SO MUCH EASIER.
